Heirloom dating back to the mid 1800s. Kohlrabi are cabbage relatives and form a globe-shaped swollen stem above the soil that is eaten raw or steamed with a mild, sweet flavor similar to a turnip or cabbage. This variety has a pale green globe-shaped stem that is best harvested at 3" diameter, is quick to mature, and the greens are wonderful steamed while young and tender.
Kohlrabi is a cool season crop that prefers rich moist, well-drained soils.
