Lettuce ‘Freckles Romaine’

Lactuca sativa

Heirloom

A unique romaine  covered in flecks of crimson and burgundy.

Heirloom dating back to the late 1700s in Austria and Germany. Produces vase-shaped romaine type heads covered with burgundy speckles that darken as the leaves mature.  A crisp variety with a smooth taste that's perfect for fresh salads either as baby greens or grown to mature heads. Increased heat and bolt tolerance.

Lettuce prefers moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Lettuce performs best if planted in the spring or fall seasons and is protected from direct afternoon sun.
