Red-Veined Sorrel

Rumex sanguineus var. sanguineus

Also known as “Bloody Dock” for its deep burgundy red veins and stems.

Rosettes of long pointed green leaves with prominent reddish-purple veins and tiny white blooms on tall red stalks. This species can be grown for ornamental value or sauteed like spinach for it's tart lemon flavor. Baby leaves are great colorful additions to salads as well.

Prefers average medium moisture well drained soil. Do not allow to dry out. May self seed in the garden.
