Tomatillo ‘Purple’

Physalis philadelphica

Unique variety producing masses of bright purple fruits wrapped in a papery husk. As fruits mature, the husk splits and the fruits become darker purple with more sun. The interior flesh is violet colored and much sweeter than its green cousins.

Tomatillos require full sun, plenty of space for good air circulation, and well-drained soil rich with organic matter. They also require support from stakes, cages, or trellises so they don't sprawl.

Two plants are required as tomatillos are not self fertile.
