Tomato ‘Cherokee Purple’

This variety has rocketed in popularity for its intense flavor and gorgeous purple, brown, green skin. A pre 1890 variety passed down from Cherokee Native Americans in the Tennessee River Valley, and has through seed saving efforts, has succeeded in being preserved and enjoyed by more gardeners each year.



Tomatoes require full sun, plenty of space for good air circulation, and well-drained soil rich with organic matter. They also require support from stakes, cages, or trellises so they don't sprawl. Avoid directly watering the foliage.
