Allium giganteum (Ornamental Onion)

The tallest of the ornamental onions, A. giganteum’s violet purple 5-6" spherical flower heads are held atop lofty 4-foot stems. They certainly stand out in late spring as the striking purple pom-pom blooms sway in the breeze. Strap shaped foliage dies back prior to the flowers’ full maturation.
