Astilbe chinensis var. pumila

Pale pink to light purple blooms on deep green, ternately compound, toothed foliage. Its low height and quick spreading rhizomes make 'Pumila’ a good option for a ground cover in moist shaded areas. Astilbe chinensis varieties bloom slightly later in the season and are slightly more sun tolerant than x arendsii hybrids and they can tolerate more drought, although they still much prefer consistently moist, rich soils.
