Silver-green lance shaped leaves are arranged into tall, flattened fans. In peak summer sprays of orange flowers delicately spotted with red bloom for several weeks. ‘Freckle Face’ has larger, rounder petals than the straight species as well as boasting increased disease resistance. Belamcanda is commonly called Blackberry Lily, for the dark seed clusters that remain after bloom. If you would prefer not to have this one seed around, just cut the seed pods before they mature and disperse. Synonymous with Iris domestica ‘Freckle Face’.
