Dianthus alpinus (Alpine Pink)

Blooms are sweetly fragrant and range from light to dark pink with a darker magenta circle in the center and slightly serrated petals. Tightly packed foliage forms a dense evergreen mat. Requires excellent drainage and prefers alkaline soils. As the species name suggests, a rock garden and alpine garden classic.
